How to Knit Intarsia (Video Instructions)

We’re back today with another free knitting video tutorial to share. In this post we’re sharing today we showcase a video that will help you improve and master your knitting skills, in particular: Intarsia Knitting.

In this video created by Yarnspirations, we can watch expert knitter Mary Beth Temple from Hooked for Life, as she demonstrates some essentials tips and tricks to help us master intarsia knitting. Intarsia is a type of colour-work, in which we use a different strand of yarn for different blocks of colour.

Mary Beth demonstrates intarsia knitting by working on a section from the Tropical Leaf Knit Pillow, which is available as a free pattern for download here. In fact this particular knit pattern by Bernat is sure to help you stretch your knitting skills, with intarsia and embroider details to make a beautiful leaf motif!

Among the things you’ll learn, Mary Beth explains what a ‘float’ is in knitting, and how best to use it, as well as what a ‘butterfly bobbin’ is and why you need to use it.
